Highland Capital management has taken its support to the George W. Bush Presidential Center a notch higher by giving a gift endowment of 10 million dollars to support the ‘Engage at the Bush Center’ Public Programs Series. This series is committed to bring though provoking programs and discussions which gather newsmakers, authors and thought leaders together. Highland capital management was one of the early supporters of the center since its foundation in 2013. The multi-billion company has given up to five million dollars since then in support of the various activities that take place at the center. This year, they gifted the presidential center with 10 million dollars in support of their programs.
The CEO of the presidential center, Kenneth Hersh and Highland capital management CEO, Jim Dondero made a public announcement on ninth of January to declare the gift given to the center by Highland Capital management on 9th January 2018. According the announcement, part of the money gifted to the center will be used to sponsor the events held throughout the engage series including the grand annual Highland Capital lecture.
The first event done by this sponsorship will be held on the 5th of February 2018. Preparation of this first event in the engage series are already underway with registration already going on. The event will be in two parts; the first part will be a conversation with Christopher Scalia, author of Scalia Speaks: Reflections on Law, Faith, and Life Well Lived and the second part will be a discussion by a panel of experts on the media land scape. This first even is already attracting an impressive number of people.
In addition to the ten million given, the Highland Capital management CEO, Jim Dondero will join the advisory committee of the presidential center. This not only strengthens the multi-billion dollar company’s support to the presidential center, but also promises to further the center’s goal to bring though provoking programs to Dallas. With this addition to the team, the team is hopes to see an increase in the center’s impact in the world.
